My dear friends, that time of year is upon us.
The wondrous time where we remember miracles, celebrate hope…and tend to get bogged down in the details and stresses of entertaining, buying gifts – the perfect gifts, cooking inordinate amounts of food…
Since having children, I’ve found it funny how the Magic of Christmas can be both renewed…and completely lost. Lost among the mundane tasks of cleaning, cooking, and making sure the two year old doesn’t pull the tree down – again.
If you’ve spent any time around these parts at all, then you know I’ve been on a journey of sorts over the past year or two. Rediscovering who I am as a wife, a mom, a friend, a daughter, and a follower of Christ. During this exodus of sorts, I’ve had moments of rediscovering the smallest joys – even within the deepest pain.
Lately I’ve been thinking about the wonder and magic of Christmas. Not just the amazing account of how God Himself, Creator of the Universe, humbled Himself and took on human form to save humanity itself. After all, that is the story. That’s the whole reason!
But how as a kid, literally anything seemed possible at Christmas time. How truly magical things seemed to have a way of happening and sparking that ever smoldering ember of wondering what if…
So, later this week – I’m so giddily excited about this!! – we’re going to start a new series for the Christmas season:

Hi, Mia! Thanks so much! I look forward to having you here!
I can’t share the one I’m writing about. 🙂 But one of our traditions is to drink eggnog after we finish putting up the decorations. We’ve done that for as long as I can remember. The last 2 years when I wasn’t able to come home for Thanksgiving, I bought eggnog for myself while I put up my decorations. It wasn’t quite the same but it was still delicious.
