I just have to start this post by saying a ginormous THANK YOU to everyone who supported me during the time leading up to the Strictly Come Dancing Fundraiser/Competition!
First and foremost, to my awesome, amazing, supportive hubs – Seth. You are an amazing man and you did such a great job holding down the fort during all the late night rehearsals, making dinner, tucking the kids in, etc. You always do an amazing job, but you definitely went above and beyond in your support for me, and the youth club, over the past two months. I love you, and I love how you love me!!
Secondly, to those who supported me emotionally and financially! A huge thanks to Jerry and Bonnie M. and Lauren C. for your generous donations!
Nicky from Salt and Sparkle is an Irish gal I “met” through bloggy connections. Thank you for your generous support! Stay tuned for an in-depth look at her amazing photography and look at Ireland through an Irish eye!
Katharine from Just A Thought is a friend I “met” when she liked my page on Facebook. It amazes me that such generosity exists among strangers. Katharine spent some time in Ireland and expressed that it will always hold a soft place in her heart – as it will me, too!! Thank you for your support and generosity!! Stay tuned for a deeper look at her lovely little blog soon, too! But I will tell you she’s got a giveaway going on right now, so don’t wait for my post to visit her! š
And to all those locally who supported us through donations, attending the night, help with wardrobe, hair, makeup, etc we can’t thank you enough!!
The night was absolutely amazing!! Preparations for the dancers began around 2pm with hair, makeup, and dress rehearsals. We opened with a group routine to a sold-out, standing room only crowd of over 500 people!
My incomparable dance partner, Rick, and I had an absolute blast and danced our little hearts out! We didn’t win the major first place prize for having the most votes (aka raising the most money), but we did win an award for being the best couple – as in we danced best as a pair. There were also awards given for most entertaining, best novelty, and head and stools above the rest (play on words, as they won a custom pair of stools, hehe).
But most importantly, 20,000 euro was raised for the youth club!! That’s over $26,000!!
So, in case you’re interested, here are videos of our individual dances. I might post videos of the group routines later, if y’all are interested. š
Thanks again for your amazing support!!
