Stretching the Boundaries

Yay, It’s Friday! That means it’s time for Five Minute Friday with Lisa-Jo and her gang of friends! We write for 5 minutes on the same topic, and then we link ’em all up and share! No editing, no stopping.

Here’s my take on this week’s theme: STRETCH

Five Minute Friday

GO

I have always loved the Olympics gymnastics and figure skating. I have so many memories from my childhood being glued to the TV as those amazing athletes demonstrated their prowess at the sport. However, when it was time to showcase other sporting events at The Games, I ran off to pretend I was Mary Lou or Kristi

Enter my husband. He is a grade A, hard core, Olympics nut. He watches it all. Every. Single. Moment.

Now that we’ve been married for twelve plus years, I find myself really enjoying nearly every event right alongside him. Funny how that happens.

I went on my first upside-down roller coaster on our honeymoon. My first major Jeeping expedition? Our first year of marriage.

My man and me in a place I never thought I’d brave: Athens!

This man seriously makes me stretch my boundaries. I’ve done things with him (or to impress him) that I never thought in my life I would  – or could – ever do.

He truly is my sharpening iron. He makes me better. He helps me learn. Grow. Stretch.

But here’s the thing about stretching: it hurts! It burns. It doesn’t seem natural. Its not enjoyable when you are in the throes of it. But, oh the benefit! You emerge longer, leaner, more pliable. And it turns out, the more often you stretch, the easier it is, and the better it feels, the next time you do it!

I can’t say I look forward to the next time my man leads me to stretch once again, but I am so thankful that he does that job so well. My life is so much richer for it.

When was the last time you stretched?

STOP

Ok, I have to admit, I cheated a bit. I went a minute over. You don’t mind, right? 😉

  1. I am being stretched right now because I’ve been called upon to teach 1st and 2nd grade Sunday School. Naturally, I am more comfortable with adults, even teenagers. I’ve never been truly comfortable teaching little ones (other than my own). I want to have a pure heart and intent. I really am blessed as I have an incredible opportunity to pour into the small lives in the room with me:)
    Happy FMF!
