The Best is Yet To Come

I must confess, the words – they hide

Nor can I see Your face.
The veil, it hides what lies beyond
A fogged mirror; smudged glasses distort my view of grace.

In this world we will have trouble
But You have overcome.
I tell myself again and more:
The best is yet to come.

The pain, nigh to unbearable
Is tangible and fierce.
My prayers, they are so feeble
Can they really Heaven pierce?

I know deep down inside my heart
Your Word promises Hope in Your Son
And through His unfathomable name
The best is yet to come.

The lushest hills of this great world
The sky and sea so blue
Are barren wasteland
When compared to all that’s promised in You.

Whether a hundred years I’m allowed to live
Or my days numbered down to one
My heart it swells and can scare believe
The best is yet to come.

You are full of beauty and of light
Your Name brings my heart to sing
Excitement mounts as I prepare
To see Your face, o King

Your love so vast and firm and true
Holds me near; your heartbeat draws me home
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for I know
The best is yet to come.

  1. Jen, this hit home hard the day I received it and I wept at my computer.  It is so hard to lift up our heads and see the Light sometimes.  On this day God spoke very directly through you and through another friend and I was so grateful for that touch.  Thank you.  Joni
